The Dallas Cowboys have announced a special tribute to honor the late conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who was tragically assassinated earlier this week during a community event.
Owner Jerry Jones confirmed that the American flag at AT&T Stadium will be lowered to half-mast before Sunday’s game, with the team observing a moment of silence. Kickoff will be delayed to allow the ceremony to take place.
“Charlie wasn’t just a public figure — he was a proud fan of the Dallas Cowboys,” Jones said in a statement. “When we honor him, we honor one of our own. Our star shines brighter when we stand together as a family, especially in moments of loss.”
The Cowboys also announced that fans will be invited to participate in the memorial by laying flowers and signing tribute walls inside AT&T Stadium. The moment of silence will be followed by a video honoring Kirk’s life and legacy.
NFL officials confirmed that games across the league will include moments of silence this weekend, but the Cowboys’ decision to adjust kickoff underscores the organization’s unique commitment to making the tribute central to Sunday’s experience.
Social media reactions quickly spread, with many praising the team for balancing competition with compassion, and for recognizing Kirk not only as a public figure but as part of Cowboys Nation.
For fans in Arlington, this Sunday will carry a deeper meaning: football will still be played, but the memory of Charlie Kirk will stand at the heart of it.
Where to watch Broncos vs. Titans today: Channel, time, schedule, live stream for Sunday NFL game

The Broncos and the Titans kick off their seasons in a battle of two young quarterbacks.
Denver’s Bo Nix begins his second NFL season after leading his team to the postseason, while Tennessee’s Cam Ward makes his NFL debut after being taken No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Miami.
There are certainly higher expectations for the Broncos than the Titans, considering how each team’s season ended. Denver surprised many with a 10-7 finish in 2024, which ended with a playoff loss in the Wild Card round. Tennessee, meanwhile, finished with the NFL’s worst record at 3-14, which helped them secure Ward.
The Broncos return a lot of their stars from this past season but added new pieces to both sides of the ball, including rookie running back R.J. Harvey and first-round cornerback Jahdae Barron.
Apart from Ward, the Titans’ roster is about the same. Tony Pollard commands the backfield, while Jeffery Simmons is the leader on the defense.
