With back-to-school season right around the corner, Dylan Dreyer is soaking up every last golden moment of summer — and making sure her boys do the same.
The Today co-host, 42, shared a heart-melting glimpse into her family’s late-August escape alongside husband Brian Fichera and their three sons — Calvin, 6, Oliver “Ollie,” 4, and Russell “Rusty,” 2. The proud mom captured the fun in a carousel of Instagram photos, each one frozen proof of a summer lived to its fullest.
Sometimes it was silly, sometimes chaotic — but always joyful.
In the featured snapshot, the family of five beams as they lean out the doors and pop out from the roof of their green Jeep Wrangler, a picture-perfect portrait of sunshine, curiosity, and childhood adventure. Dreyer captioned the post with playful resignation: “Wrapping up summer with one more incredible getaway! Guess it’s time to get back to work now!”
For Dreyer — who balances a bustling broadcasting career in New York with hands-on motherhood — these small windows of escape are precious.
Scrolling through Dreyer’s collection of photos, one theme stands out: three little boys growing fast, finding joy in every new experience. Rusty, the youngest, giggles in a rocking chair beside his older brothers. All three chase the sunset through a sprawling green field. They plunge into a pool with the kind of fearless energy only kids possess. And yes — there’s even a cowboy moment, as one lucky rider takes the reins on a playful, pint-sized horse.

But the parents made sure to enjoy their own slice of summer fun, too.
Dreyer and Fichera squeezed in some adult time — teeing up on a quiet golf course and clinking cocktails with friends as the sun dipped behind the trees. With three energetic boys at home, those peaceful, couple-only moments are especially valuable.
It’s a family in motion — one growing, changing, learning — with Dylan embracing each stage as it comes.
Family time may be the heartbeat of Dreyer’s life, but like any mother of three sons, her days can get… adventurous.
Just weeks earlier, the meteorologist shared another family moment — one slightly more chaotic than pool splashes and Jeep rides. One summer evening, all three boys eagerly asked to help make dinner. Any parent can imagine the pause that followed.
“I was in a rush making dinner last night, and all 3 boys asked to help cut up the veggies. I took a deep breath and said ‘Sure! Why not?’” she wrote on Instagram, posing proudly with her kitchen crew and a few cutting boards.
Dinner took a little longer that night — but Dreyer didn’t mind one bit.
“Who cares… we had a great moment together,” she added. “Sometimes it’s easier and more fun for everyone to just say yes!”

It wasn’t long before another post had fans laughing and nodding with recognition: one weekend included a hospital trip for Rusty’s stitches and cleaning up Calvin’s cut chin. Dreyer summed it up perfectly: “Boy mom.”
She doesn’t pretend any of it is perfect — but she embraces it with love, patience, and humor.
Dreyer has spoken often about how quickly childhood moves. Calvin is already 6, Ollie is finding his goofy stride at 4, and little Rusty is not so little anymore. As fall routines start to take shape — school drop-offs, work alarms, stricter schedules — this last unhurried escape becomes even more meaningful.
These are the days Dreyer wants to bottle. Hot summer evenings, sticky popsicle hands. Sleepy rides home after sunset. Squeals, scraped knees, and splashes. Brothers forming best-friend bonds that might just last a lifetime.
It’s a reminder that even for moms who wake up on national television — the greatest highlights are the ones far away from any spotlight.
As Dreyer returns to the Today set — shifting gears from beach towels to broadcast scripts — she brings with her the joy that comes from quality time spent with the people who matter most.
The journalist once joked that going back to work after vacation makes her feel like she needs a vacation from vacation — a sentiment any parent can relate to. But she also thrives on the balance between career and motherhood, a dual role she manages with admirable grace.
And while summer may be winding down, Dreyer knows the memories aren’t going anywhere. They’ll live in the camera roll, yes — but more importantly, in the minds of three little boys who will always remember how their mom said yes to adventure.
Another season awaits. Leaves will change. School shoes will replace bare feet. Pool splashes will swap for crisp fall mornings.
But for one more fleeting weekend, the Dreyers got to hold onto sunshine — together.
