Who knew a Skills Challenge win could help buy a house and rattle the US president? Natasha Cloud was at the WNBA All-Star Skills Challenge on Friday night with one goal, to win it for her girlfriend, Izzy Harrison.
That wasn’t just romantic fluff. Harrison had already told her, “You’re gonna get that house,” if she brought home the prize. Cloud delivered, with buckets, speed, and precision.
The New York Liberty guard edged out Seattle’s Erica Wheeler in the final round and walked away with a cool $57,575. Only $2,575 came from the WNBA itself. The real jackpot came from Aflac, a league sponsor, which paid her an extra $55,000. That’s nearly a 29% bump on her $200,000 base salary this season.
Natasha Cloud Meets Political Firestorm
Cloud didn’t just win on the court. She made headlines off it too, again.
Earlier this summer, she backed socialist Zohran Mamdani in New York’s Democratic primary. He upset Andrew Cuomo and several other heavy hitters. Then came Donald Trump’s heated response, suggesting Mamdani should be arrested and deported.
Cloud, never one to hold back, clapped right back. “If Donny wants to come down here, if ICE wants to try and come down here, that’s fine,” she told reporters. “But they’re gonna learn the hard way… New Yorkers really don’t f*** around. They don’t play about one another. They don’t play about this city.”
She didn’t stop there. Cloud called Trump’s strikes on nuclear facilities in Iran “grounds for impeachment.” Then she laughed about making MAGA supporters angry.
“Y’all, I made the Trumpers mad again. This like an every week [occurrence] now… not I’m getting to y’all,” she posted.
Despite not making the All-Star Game roster, Cloud is still doing work this season. She’s averaging 9.9 points, 6 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in 20 games for the defending champs.
Friday night, though, wasn’t about politics or stats. It was about a win, a check, and a celebration. Cloud hugged teammate Sabrina Ionescu, who later won the three-point contest, and then scooped up Harrison like a scene straight from a rom-com.
Money, love, and a mic drop. Not a bad night at all.
