A seemingly peaceful morning off the coast of Los Angeles turned into hell when shocking news broke: the helicopter carrying Elon Musk, tech billionaire and founder of SpaceX – Tesla – Neuralink, crashed into the sea just minutes after takeoff. According to initial confirmation by the US Coast Guard, Musk died at the scene. Rescuers described the scene as “a sea of smoke, fire and raging waves, where hope was swallowed in seconds.”

The explosion sounded like a thunderclap, shaking the entire Santa Monica coast. Witnesses on a nearby yacht recounted: “We saw the propellers shatter, flames burst like fireworks, and the helicopter fell into the sea, creating a column of water dozens of meters high. Screams echoed across the sea.” Immediately, dozens of rescue boats rushed to the scene, but all they saw was burning debris, oil spilled across the water, and sparks extinguished in the raging waves.
Paparazzi and international reporters, who had been following Musk’s footsteps, quickly arrived. Flashes flashed through the haze, capturing the chaotic scene: rescue workers wearing smoke masks, diving into the black water; sirens blared across the shore. Crowds of people gathered, many fans burst into tears, covering their faces and screaming when they heard the news that the “world changer” was caught up in the tragedy.
Ambulances blared on the pier, carrying a faint hope. Paramedics jumped from rescue helicopters, pulling the victim’s body onto a stretcher. They urgently performed CPR and placed an oxygen mask, but the monitor only showed a cold, straight line. A doctor directly involved in the emergency said: “We continuously shocked the victim, but all efforts were in vain. The body temperature dropped too quickly, the wound was too severe.”
At UCLA Medical Center, the ICU room was lit up all night. The head ICU doctor recounted the devastating moment: “We had prepared every plan, but when the body was brought in, there was nothing left to do but confirm the death.” In the hallway, dozens of Musk’s bodyguards, lawyers and relatives surrounded him. Many SpaceX engineers burst into tears and hugged each other when they received the bad news.

Around the world, social media exploded with the hashtags #PrayForElon and #GoodbyeMusk. Millions of tweets, videos and messages poured in within minutes. At Tesla’s headquarters in Fremont, workers stopped working and stood in a circle of silence. At Cape Canaveral, SpaceX engineers flew flags at half-mast and sat motionless in front of a model of the Starship rocket.
The White House immediately issued a statement: “Elon Musk was an icon of innovation who challenged the limits of humanity. We share the pain of this great loss with his family and colleagues.” The president and prime minister of the United Kingdom, the president of France and the prime minister of Japan all sent messages of condolences. In Paris, hundreds of fans gathered under the Eiffel Tower, lighting candles and praying. In Tokyo, a billboard in Shibuya suddenly displayed white text: “Goodbye Elon Musk.”
The tragedy did not stop there. As people poured onto the Los Angeles beach to pray, a temporary bridge leading to the memorial suddenly collapsed due to overload, injuring dozens of people, including children. Los Angeles police confirmed this was a “double incident”, further deepening the common pain.
Night fell, the sea of people still covered Santa Monica beach. Thousands of candles burned brightly, mingling with choked sobs and silent prayers. One fan burst into tears and said: “He was not just a billionaire, he was the dream, the belief that humans could reach Mars. Now, that dream has been extinguished.”

Mourning enveloped the world. Elon Musk — the space challenger, the future redefiner of energy and artificial intelligence — is gone, leaving behind a huge legacy and an unfillable void. But tonight, amid the flickering candlelight, some believe that a part of his dream will still burn.
