DALLAS — The new Netflix docuseries “America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys” is giving Cowboys fans a new angle on Jerry Jones.
“It’s a different perspective I have on him (Jerry Jones) now,” says Laityn Hedrick.
The 8 episode docuseries shows the behind-the-scenes life of the team owner during the Cowboys’ Super Bowl era in the 90s.
The series was released this week, and fans like Hedrick are starting to see Jones in a new way.
“I saw a little bit more human side to him. He didn’t seem just like a businessman. He had a little bit of a heart with an but with, like, a football passion, too. Like that’s how I am. And if I had that money, I would buy this team in a heartbeat,” Hedrick explains.
Angel Perales, a fan from San Antonio, says the docuseries shows you the long history of Jones and the Cowboys.
“The way he, you know, took over the team and then just kind of the history of what the Cowboys have been through in the 30 plus years, you know, since he’s taken over it,” says Perales.
Kai Porchia hasn’t seen the series yet, but from what he’s seen online, he’s starting to understand the man behind the team.

“The impression I got to him, he was a dictator. He’d like to tell people what to do, and he like to micromanage his … franchise. But after looking at… the sneak peeks in there, they…I see that the sacrifice he made to where he had to do it like that,” Porchia says.
With this new insight into Jones, fans are more excited to see their Cowboys play this football season.
“I’m excited to see everyone, from what they’ve done this offseason. Ready to see CeeDee lamb, Dak Prescott George Pickens out there,” Hedrick says.
Wednesday is the Dallas Cowboys last open training camp practice.
They play their last preseason game at home on Friday against the Atlanta Falcons.
