Breanna Stewart was shocked to find out that Caitlin Clark helped the New York Liberty have a $2 million revenue on Saturday. The Liberty hosted the Indiana Fever, leading to a historic revenue for a WNBA team. Fans reacted to Stewart’s comments about the information on social media.
In an interview after the game, Stewart was in disbelief when she learned that the Liberty were the first WNBA team in history to have $2 million in revenue for one game. She even acknowledged Clark’s popularity in bringing in more people to watch the sport.
“That’s incredible. I think the buzz and eyes that Caitlin has brought from Iowa now to the WNBA is going to be a collective win for all.
“When I first started in the league, some teams weren’t even making revenue. … It’s a long time coming. We’re happy to be at this point, but we’re not satisfied,” Stewart said. [H/T Associted Press]

Breanna Stewart leads Liberty to another win over Caitlin Clark and the Fever

Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty welcomed Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever at the Barclays Center on Saturday. Stewart led the way for the Liberty in their 91-80 win. The reigning MVP finished with 24 points, five rebounds and two assists, while Sabrina Ionescu had 12 points and five assists.
It was not a lopsided victory like their first meeting two days ago in Indianapolis, but the Liberty were in control from the get go. The Fever showed fight in the second half, but their run came up short.
Caitlin Clark finally found her stroke, scoring 22 points on 9-for-17 shooting from the field. Clark went 4-for-10 from beyond the arc with six rebounds and eight assists. She also had eight turnovers, but at least she was able to be more efficient in scoring the basket.
Aliyah Boston added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Kelsey Mitchell had 17 points. The Fever are back at home on Monday against the Connecticut Sun, while the Liberty host the Seattle Storm on the same day.
