It was as clear as day that Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell had one heck of a day in the team’s 31-25 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Mitchell finished the game with five tackles and a staggering five pass deflections. During the game,
he was targeted seven times and allowed just two receptions for six yards. He faced off against the Buccaneers’ 2025 first-round pick Emeka Egbuka and Pro Bowler Chris Godwin and never allowed a first down.
That’s the kind of performance Eagles fans have been used to seeing, but not on this level. This performance even got Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio calling it the best of Mitchell’s young career.
It seemed fitting with a great performance like that Mitchell should be properly praised for it.
Mitchell racks up his first career weekly award
On Wednesday, Mitchell was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 4. This is the first time in his career that he has won the award.

This season, Mitchell has racked up 17 tackles, six pass deflections, and one fumble recovery in four games. He has a PFF overall grade of 72.6, ranking 27th out of 164 cornerbacks eligible to be on it.
Despite not having an interception in the regular season last year, Mitchell was still able to finish second in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. He did nab two interceptions in the postseason to help the Eagles win the Super Bowl.
He’s been everything as good as advertised and has made it easier on the franchise to move on from Darius Slay in the offseason, so Mitchell could take over as the new CB1.
