The Markle family drama continues to unfold, this time reigniting old tensions and sparking new debates about Meghan Markle’s relationship with her relatives. In a surprising turn of events, Meghan’s stepmother, Roslyn Markle, has broken her silence, revealing her perspective on the Duchess’s complicated family dynamics — and it’s not quite what many expected.
In defense of his sister, Thomas Markle Jr. publicly stated that Meghan “had a really good family” and “got everything she ever wanted.” His comment came as Roslyn, the former wife of Meghan’s father Thomas Markle Sr., shared her thoughts during a 2017 interview with Radar Online. Having married Thomas Sr. back in the 1960s, Roslyn described what she saw as a natural distance that formed over time rather than a bitter family feud.
“It’s not tension. It’s distance,” she explained. “When Meghan graduated from high school, she went to Northwestern, which is up in Illinois. Then she worked in Argentina. After that, she started Suits and her acting career. Everyone got busy, and distance was always a factor.” Roslyn insisted that Meghan never “shut out” her family, arguing instead that life simply took her in different directions. She did, however, admit that she “didn’t talk too much” with Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Grant — a relationship that has long been the subject of public speculation and controversy.
Samantha, known for her outspoken criticism of Meghan, quickly fired back on social media. In a series of heated tweets, she dismissed Roslyn’s comments entirely, writing, “FYI I read online that Roslyn Markle was Meghan’s stepmom LOL. My dad divorced Roslyn in ’74… she remarried… no relation to Meg ever and she knows nothing about our lives or Meghan!” She went on to accuse Roslyn of fabricating familiarity with the Duchess, adding, “Roslyn only knows Meg from what she has studied about her in the media LOL.”

The back-and-forth reflects the persistent divide within the Markle family — one that has continued to play out in public since Meghan’s marriage to Prince Harry. While Roslyn’s defense painted Meghan as a busy woman caught up in her rising career, Samantha’s angry response underscored the deep-seated resentment and fractured ties that have long characterized the family’s narrative.

Meanwhile, Meghan appears to be focusing on her own projects and building her brand. Recently, she was spotted attending a dinner hosted by Emma Grede — the powerhouse entrepreneur behind Kim Kardashian’s Skims and Khloé Kardashian’s Good American. The event celebrated women “owning their power” and supporting each other’s success. Grede shared photos and videos from the evening, captioning them, “Not my typical Wednesday after work,” and offered glimpses of Meghan’s latest business venture: her As Ever lifestyle brand. Guests were seen enjoying her 2024 As Ever Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, suggesting that Meghan’s ambitions may now extend into the luxury market.
As the Markle family continues to make headlines, it seems Meghan is carving a different path — one that merges celebrity influence, entrepreneurship, and empowerment. But even as she moves forward, the echoes of her family’s fractured relationships continue to follow her, reminding the world that behind the royal glamour lies a story still marked by distance, misunderstanding, and unresolved emotion
