Prince William and the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, are finding creative ways to mix family bonding with a bit of friendly competition, as the royal couple has reportedly established a weekly family pub quiz. According to The Sun, the couple, both 43, join their eldest children, Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, 10, for quizzes at a local pub near one of their royal residences. Sources described the quizzes as “tricky but a lot of fun,” though they kept mum on whether ‘Team Wales’ has ever claimed first prize.

The Wales family currently resides at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor but will be moving later this year to Forest Lodge. They also maintain their London home at Kensington Palace and their country estate, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk. This love for pub quizzes is nothing new: William and Kate were regular participants during their time in Anglesey, North Wales, following their 2011 wedding. During a recent appearance on Eugene Levy’s The Reluctant Traveler, William admitted he struggles with history but revealed that George has a particular knack for general knowledge, making him the quiz team’s rising star. Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, also fostered a competitive spirit with video-call family quizzes during COVID-19 lockdowns.
The royal couple is famously competitive, often engaging in playful head-to-head moments during royal engagements. William shared on the Apple TV+ show that family time is strictly phone-free, allowing the family to connect during meals and conversations about their day. “We sit and chat; it’s really important. None of our children have any phones, which we’re very strict about,” he explained.

Beyond quizzes, the Wales children are busy with various hobbies. Charlotte, 10, enjoys netball and ballet, Louis, 7, is “obsessed with trampolining,” and George thrives in football and hockey. William noted that Charlotte and Louis often compete on the trampoline, “beating each other up, most of the time. Apparently, there is an art to it.” He also shared that the children are learning musical instruments, though progress varies.
Whether it’s quiz nights, sports, or creative endeavors, the family balances structured activities with lighthearted fun, demonstrating the couple’s commitment to raising their three children with a sense of normalcy amidst royal life. As William and Kate continue to embrace everyday family traditions, it’s clear that fostering curiosity, teamwork, and a bit of healthy competition remains at the heart of their household.
