Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant showered A’ja Wilson with praise after the Las Vegas Aces star became the first player in WNBA history to score 1000 points in a single season. In a post on his Instagram story, Morant added a note about their shared South Carolina roots along with his compliments.
Morant reposted sportswear giant Nike’s post celebrating the Aces star’s achievement and accompanied it with a caption:
“Da mayor of SC. Crib talk. congrats family @aja22wilson,” he wrote.

Morant was suspended for the first 25 games of the 2023-24 NBA season after he included firearms in a post on his Instagram story in March 2023. On his return in December 2023, he made a strong start, but then suffered a shoulder injury in January. The injury required surgery and was season-ending, and the Grizzlies failed to make the playoffs.
