Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) said Monday that Dominion Voting Systems ― yes, the same company that Donald Trump and conservatives falsely accused of stealing votes from him in 2020 ― could potentially cheat against Democrats in the 2026 midterms. (Watch the video below.)

On the “Defending Democracy” podcast posted Monday, Crockett pointed to last month’s purchase of Dominion by GOP ex-election official Scott Leiendecker, who rebranded it as Liberty Vote.

Crockett said Leiendecker is a friend of Trump and could possibly lead a mass rigging of votes in the 2026 races. The Texas Democrat told host Marc Elias that secretaries of state should be “educated” not to purchase Dominion machines.
“I personally believe that that ally purchased Dominion so that he could potentially play with the machines,” Crockett said. “Because we know that they’re trying to cheat by changing the lines for the midterms, and I think that they’re trying to solidify their cheat potentially with the voting machines.”

She did not cite evidence for her claims.
Liberty Vote did not immediately respond to a HuffPost request for comment.
“It’s going to be really important for us to educate all states that we can to make sure that their secretary of states are like, ‘We don’t want the Dominion machines.'”… pic.twitter.com/82fgBbtoLl

Leiendecker announced he was buying the company for an undisclosed price in October. The press release mentioned “election integrity,” buzzwords used by Republicans to cast doubt on the 2020 results and sow skepticism for future elections.
“Liberty Vote is committed to delivering election technology that prioritizes paper-based transparency, security, and simplicity so that voters can be assured that every ballot is filled-in accurately and fairly counted,” Leiendecker said in the release, per CNN. However, paper balloting is already accessible to the vast majority of the country.

In 2020, Trump and allies said Dominion rigged its machines in favor of Joe Biden. Those false claims were amplified by Fox News, which paid $787.5 million to Dominion to settle a lawsuit. Newsmax also settled its Dominion defamation lawsuit by shelling out $67 million.
Crockett led into her Dominion remarks by declaring the recent elections were a “rebuke” of Trump and that she didn’t think Trump wants voting to be accessible. “And I don’t know that he is above cheating,” she said. “In fact I would argue that he is a cheater.”
