Jenna Bush Hager finds comfort in her children.
On Monday, Oct. 6, the former first daughter, 43, posted a new entry to her Voices at the Table newsletter, where she opened up about how she parents in the modern world. In the entry, Bush Hager shared a snap of her daughter Mila’s answers to her homework assignment, where the 12-year-old responded to an “I want” prompt.
“My daughter brought me to tears with this school assignment, where she answered the prompt ‘I want.’ ” Bush Hager wrote in her Instagram Stories promoting her latest newsletter release.
In the assignment, Bush Hager’s daughter wrote that she wants “the world to be peaceful and scary stuff to be fake,” as well as that she wants to “meet my mom when she was my age.” The doting mom said that her daughter’s profound words are what “made me teary,” as she reflected on whether she worried about “the plight of the world” when she was a tween.
“I realized that sometimes I find the most comfort in the beauty and innocence of my children,” she wrote. “All I have to do is read their assignments, cuddle with them at night, pay attention to the creative and loving things they say — and then I feel like our world is filled with such profound and sparkly hope.”
She added, “As I watch them sleep, I feel our world is a beautiful beach, filled with sea glass in colors we have never found before.”
Bush Hager shares her kids with her husband, Henry Hager. Their daughters, Mila and Poppy, 10, were born in 2013 and 2015, respectively. The couple later welcomed their son, Hal, 7, in 2019.
Over the years, she has been candid about her motherhood journey, admitting that “logistics can be difficult” as her family has grown. Today, she devotes herself to “making sure that each child has the love that I know I feel for them.”

While she often raves about her children on Today, the proud mom also keeps it real, sharing, “Sometimes I hide from the kids in the pantry and just have a cheese stick.”
Still, she always looks for the silver lining in each moment with them. “I try to find the love and the pleasure that I know I have for my kids even in the tedious parts of parenting,” she added.https://www.instagram.com/p/DIsC_ZaAqVF/embed/captioned/?cr=1&v=14&wp=540&rd=https%3A%2F%2Fviewfindernews.com&rp=%2Fbtvgiang%2Fjenna-bush-hager-once-told-sheinelle-jones-on-national-daughters-day-that-she-didnt-expect-her-daughters-to-be-anything-like-her-but-now-after-reading-her-daughter-milas-georgia66%2F%3Ffbclid%3DIw#%7B%22ci%22%3A0%2C%22os%22%3A18701.599999964237%2C%22ls%22%3A13662.5%2C%22le%22%3A18696.899999976158%7D
Bush Hager doesn’t necessarily want her daughters to follow in her footsteps.
The Today with Jenna & Friends co-host was discussing National Daughters Day on the Thursday, Sept. 25 episode of her show alongside guest co-host Sheinelle Jones, when Jones began talking about her own 13-year-old daughter, Clara.
“I actually hope — and I’m just gonna say it — I actually hope my daughter, her teenage years — she just turned 13 a month ago — I hope she’s like me, like I was. I was a great teenager,” Jones said, before laughing and turning to Bush Hager. “Oh wait, that tees you up perfectly.”
With a deadpan expression, Bush Hager replied, “Yeah, I hope my daughters are NOT like me.”
