Jenna Bush Hager looked back on one of her past romances, revealing she broke up with a college boyfriend because he fit into the same size pants as she did.
During the Thursday, October 9, episode of Today With Jenna & Friends, Bush Hager, 43, recalled dating a “skinny fella” who was the same size as her while talking to guest co-host Willie Geist.
While detailing their brief relationship, Bush Hager revealed the she and the ex were together “getting ready for class [and] he put on my jeans and they fit.” After she found out they shared the same pants size, Bush Hager knew their breakup was imminent.
“And that was the beginning of the end,” she said of her mindset at the time. “I was like, ‘Oh, I can’t be bigger than you.’”
While her relationship with the unnamed college ex wasn’t meant to be, Bush Hager eventually found love with her husband, Henry Hager. The couple met during the 2004 presidential campaign when her dad, George W. Bush, was running for re-election against Democratic nominee John Kerry.
Hager, 47, and Bush Hager got married in 2008 and later welcomed daughters Mila, 12, Poppy, 10, and son Hal, 6.
The TV personality looked back at her brief college fling more than one month after she revealed Hager wore makeup when he served as a guest host during a March episode of Today With Jenna & Friends.
She made the revelation while she and Geist, 50, debated on whether or not men should wear makeup on their wedding day. “I will say when Henry was on the show, he did wear a little makeup,” Bush Hager said at the time. “He did look quite handsome. It’s good for the complexion.”
Geist went on to agree that it is sometimes necessary for men to wear a little bit of makeup when on TV in order for the person’s skin to not appear washed out.
“Here’s the thing about this job. You can say, ‘I don’t wear makeup, I’m a dude.’ But the first time you see yourself with all these bright lights, you’ll go, ‘Whoa, I look like a ghost,’” he continued.
Bush Hager then chimed in to explain that Hager initially opted to not wear makeup, though he changed his mind after he filmed one segment of the show and quickly “regretted it.”
As the conversation continued, Geist explained that he believes there is a certain type of male celebrity who can get away without wearing any makeup while filming in front of a camera.

“This type of handsome celebrity, when asked, ‘Do you want a little bit of makeup?’ And they go, ‘Nah,’” Geist said, adding that he likes a “light touch” of makeup on his face when he’s appearing on the NBC morning show. “And it’s like, ‘God did my makeup. I don’t need makeup.’ And I won’t name names.”
