Bush Hager encouraged the Today host to “go ahead” with what she wanted to say about her wedding. However, Guthrie — who noted that the pair still had their “beefs” — further explained that she would have done things differently if her nuptials were more recent.
“Listen, if we were married today, we both— we would be each other’s bridesmaids, okay,” she explained, to which Bush Hager agreed, “100%.”
“And we’re our kids’ godmothers,” Guthrie added. “So it’s done.”
Guthrie notably was present for Bush Hager’s 2008 nuptials to Henry Hager as a reporter at the event, according to E! News. She noted on Today with Jenna & Friends in May that she had not known Bush Hager at the time, but they “clicked right away” when they “met in person.”
They shared on the show that it wasn’t until they “moved within blocks of each other” that their friendship became closer. As they began watching each other’s kids, they formed a stronger bond, and even became the godmothers of each other’s children.

Earlier this year, Guthrie shared on Today that Bush Hager is the godmother of her daughter Val, 11. She also shares son Charley, 8, with Feldman. Bush Hager — who shares son Hal, 6, and daughters, Poppy, 10, and Mila, 12 — with her husband Henry previously revealed to E! News in 2020 that Guthrie is Hal’s godmother. Their children are also best friends with each other after attending the same schools. Guthrie said on Today with Jenna & Friends that their friendship is “now multi-generational” and “well beyond us.”
Despite the pair’s occasional rifts, their friendship is still stronger than ever. Bush Hager gushed about Guthrie on her show in May, saying, “She’s such a special part of my life. We will be friends forever. There’s no doubt about that.”
