The Princess of Wales and the Duke of Sussex spent September 11 on separate paths, underscoring both the royal family’s busy schedules and the ongoing distance between the brothers.

Kate Highlights British Craftsmanship
Princess Kate, 43, carried out solo engagements in Suffolk and Kent to spotlight the creativity and craftsmanship of the U.K.’s textile industry. With a personal connection to the trade — her paternal ancestors owned the woolen manufacturer William Lupton & Co. in Leeds — the cause holds a special meaning for her.
Her first stop was at Sudbury Silk Mills in Suffolk, a family-run weaving company with over 300 years of history in jacquard weaving. Wearing a tailored gray pantsuit, the Princess toured the workshops, spoke with employees, and learned about the techniques that have been passed down for generations.
From there, Kate traveled to Marina Mill in Cuxton, Kent, where she met the small team of artisans specializing in hand-designed and screen-printed furnishing fabrics. Rolling up her sleeves, she even tried her hand at the traditional process, drawing praise for her natural curiosity and hands-on approach.

Harry’s Separate Schedule
While Kate spent the day outside London, Prince Harry was concluding his latest series of charitable appearances in the capital. On September 10, the Duke of Sussex, 40, reunited with King Charles at Clarence House for their first in-person meeting in 19 months. The father and son shared a private tea lasting nearly an hour, though no further details were disclosed by either Buckingham Palace or Harry’s spokesperson.

The reunion came during Harry’s multi-day trip to the U.K., which began on September 8. He attended the WellChild Awards, honored Queen Elizabeth II on the third anniversary of her death, and visited Nottingham’s Community Recording Studio, where he announced a personal donation of $1.5 million to Children In Need. On September 10, before meeting his father, Harry also stopped at Imperial College London’s Centre for Blast Injury Studies to learn about pioneering medical research supporting veterans.
A Positive Mindset
A source close to the Duke said he returned to Britain in a “positive” mood, eager to reconnect with the causes closest to his heart. “He’s in a really good headspace and looking forward to seeing everyone from his charities and the causes he cares about,” the source shared.
Despite his busy schedule, Harry did not meet Prince William or Princess Kate during his visit, as the rift between the brothers continues. His focus instead remained on Invictus, youth initiatives, and honoring his late grandmother’s legacy.
Parallel Paths
While the Princess of Wales promoted heritage industries in Suffolk and Kent, Harry brought energy to his charitable network in London. The simultaneous but separate appearances highlighted the evolving dynamics of the royal family — one half firmly rooted in traditional duties, the other forging a path outside of the institution.

Both, however, remain consistent in their missions: Kate championing British craftsmanship and family life, and Harry continuing his advocacy for veterans, young people, and charitable causes on a global stage.
