Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum hit the floor hard after a foul by Kelsey Mitchell, but she responded with push-ups and led her team to an 89-87 win over the Indiana Fever.

When Kelsey Plum was fouled by Kelsey Mitchell and hit the deck, she didn’t moan or fuss about it. Instead, she popped out some push-ups then and there, leading the Los Angeles Sparks to snatch a thrilling 89-87 win against the Indiana Fever.

Plum, who’s bagged two WNBA titles, further proved she’s the undisputed Fever scourge and lived up to her “Plum Dawg” moniker. Even with Caitlin Clark out of play, the Fever was set on keeping their solid streak alive at their home court without their lead guard.

But it was Plum who grabbed the limelight after taking a tumble from a hefty second-quarter foul by Mitchell amidst a pick-and-roll. While the Gainbridge Fieldhouse crowd looked on, Plum coolly executed three push-ups as the ball went out of bounds.

Her squad mates Dearica Hamby and Azura Stevens pitched in to hoist her back on her feet, and she stayed laser-focused for the remainder of the match, embodying the team’s battle cry.
Postgame, Plum remarked on shadowing Michell: “Kelsey’s really a tough check…I think she’s the fastest guard in the league with or without the ball… Just trying to do what I can.”
The Sparks managed to clip the Fever’s wings for the second engagement in barely ten days, with Stevens bagging 21 points and 12 rebounds. Hamby pitched in with 18 points, while Rickea Jackson tossed in another 15.
In the game, Plum racked up a decent tally with 20 points, three assists, and nabbed three rebounds for herself.
As the Sparks were down by a single point in the fourth, Kelsey Plum boldly navigated a double-team while Lexie Hull hit the deck. Unruffled, Plum stepped over her and remarked to the ref, “That’s a flop.”
The incident was ruled a jump ball, but seemed to amp up the Sparks’ drive even after Plum had previously expressed dismay at foul calls.

Later, Plum capitalized on Natasha Howard’s lax defense, nailing a three-pointer right in Howard’s grill and grinning ear to ear. From off the court, Clark mockingly applauded when Plum got pinged with a defensive three-second infringement and gestured for her to hush up.
With the victory, Plum’s record versus the Fever climbed to an impressive 21-1, marking the best win rate any WNBA player boasts against any single adversary over at least 20 matches.

The Sparks PR highlighted that Plum’s fourth triple of the match elevated her to the number 16 spot in career treys, now just three shy of Ivory Latta’s tally.
“The best teams in this league have had that chemistry and built it year after year,” Plum reflected postgame. “We’ve been in a lot of close games, and I’m really proud we stayed together.”
Plum’s sole defeat against the Fever dates back to 2019 during her stint with Las Vegas, where she put up 16 points in a 15-point shortfall. Since that time, Plum has consistently outshone the Fever in head-to-heads.

She averages 16.1 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.5 rebounds against the Fever, but in the last five games, her performance has improved to 20.4 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.4 rebounds.
