TAMPA, Fla. — Senior center Kiah Stokes has been selected as a First Team Senior CLASS Award All-American as announced on Friday.
Iowa’s Samantha Logic was honored as the winner of the 2014-15 Senior CLASS Award. Former Husky standout Stefanie Dolson won the prestigious honor during the 2013-14 season.
The award, chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I women’s basketball coaches, national basketball media and fans, is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I women’s basketball. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: classroom, community, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.Â
Selected as the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in early March, Stokes has put together her finest season in a Husky uniform in 2014-15. The center has established a new single-season program record with 145 blocks and also ranks second on the UConn squad with 257 total rebounds in just 18.6 minutes per game.

Earlier this season, Stokes became the fourth member of the Huskies’ 300-block club and currently stands at No. 3 in the record books with 323 rejections. She has been a crucial part of the Connecticut defense, which has held opponents to the fewest points per game (48.2) in the nation.
The Marion, Iowa native has earned a spot as one of five finalists for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Defensive Player of the Year Award, which was also won by Dolson last season.
