A palace insider shared with Radar Online that Charles has made it clear he wants the Duke and Duchess of York to minimize their public appearances and avoid drawing attention at royal events. The King, who ascended the throne in 2022, has worked diligently to slim down the royal family and steer away from public scandals. However, Andrew’s ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have continued to cast a long shadow, attracting unwanted scrutiny toward the family.
While Charles is far from disowning Andrew or Sarah, he believes that in order to protect the monarchy, they must keep a much lower profile. “The King knows Andrew will always be his brother, and Sarah has her place in the family, but he would prefer them to stay in the shadows,” the insider explained. “If they do turn up, he wants them to keep a low profile and avoid making a spectacle of themselves. In his mind, the best outcome would be for them to simply blend into the background.”
The frustrations expressed by Charles are rooted in the ongoing controversies that seem to repeatedly resurface, with each new headline dragging the monarchy into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. “Charles has no wish to shame them, but his patience is wearing thin. The controversies keep coming back, and every time the monarchy takes the hit,” another tipster explained.
For Charles, the best way forward seems to be reducing Andrew and Sarah’s visibility, hoping that over time, the negative attention will eventually fade. Yet, the question remains whether this strategy will be enough to shield the royal family from the persistent cloud of scandal surrounding the Yorks.
