King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to welcome President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany and his wife, Elke Bundenbeder, to the UK for an important State Visit in early December. The visit, scheduled from December 3 to December 5, 2025, will take place at Windsor Castle, just weeks before Christmas. This State Visit follows the successful trip King Charles and Queen Camilla made to Germany in 2023, which was the first outgoing State Visit of King Charles III’s reign.

The upcoming visit will be the third State Visit hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla in 2025, a year marked by high-profile diplomatic engagements. Earlier in the year, the Royal Family welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, to Windsor in July. In September, Windsor Castle also hosted US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for their historic second State Visit to the UK.

It is expected that the Prince and Princess of Wales will play prominent roles in the German State Visit, as they did during the visits of the French and US Presidents. This marks Windsor Castle as the central venue for State Visits in 2025, following the closure of several Buckingham Palace rooms due to ongoing refurbishments.
State Visits, like the one scheduled with Germany, are designed to strengthen ties between nations and often feature a series of events focused on mutual interests.

The highlights of such visits typically include grand ceremonies such as the State Banquet and the official welcome, which offer a showcase of pomp and tradition. The German State Visit will be another significant chapter in the Royal Family’s ongoing diplomatic efforts, cementing international relationships during this key period.
