Lara Trump, who was recently on vacation with her husband, found herself behind the wheel of a commercial planes, kicking off a bit of online discourse on Thursday.
On X, she shared a selfie while standing in the cockpit of a plane. Lara gave the camera a huge smile while she wore a black top with her hair down. At her side were two pilots in uniform, which consisted of button down tops and business pants. They gave smiles to the camera as they displayed their wings pins.

Lara wrote, “When your @jetblue pilots let you take a pic in the captain’s seat! [pilot emoji] Thanks for the great flight, guys! [airplane emoji] FLL [arrow emoji] DCA.”
In the replies, people branded her a “privileged snob,” as one person said, “Funny how that happens when you marry into a family of billionaires. There’s a certain bankruptcy of self-awareness that comes with the ring.”

Another added, “Gross. Now they have to burn the seat. What a waste.”
Some people were concerned with legality and safety of allowing Lara into the cockpit. “Forbidden and dangerous, especially a brainless Trump,” wrote one person. Another person alleged, “This seems a flagrant breach of FCC flight security protocols. You should be arrested.”
The plane appeared to be grounded at the time and not in-flight. Typically, while in flight, it is legal for a civilian to enter a cockpit due to security concerns. In fact, after 9/11, cockpit doors were required to be locked and secured when the external doors close until passengers begin to disembark.
While the plane is on the ground, it is not necessarily illegal for a pilot to invite an individual for a cockpit visit. It’s up to the captain’s discretion and, in this case, it appears the captain was all in for a photo with Lara. Some planes have different rules about photos inside the cockpit, too, but it doesn’t appear Lara violated any laws with her visit to command.
Others online were mostly worried about her singing. She’s released a few songs over the years, including a track to honor firefighters called Hero. They lyrics include, “You’re going through the fire, and the flames are getting higher. You’re my hero. You’re my hero.”

“Please, just no more singing,” a fan online begged as another one said, “Poor guys if she sang for them…”
A third added, “Please for the love of God, tell us that you didn’t sing?”
In April, Lara sang Tom Petty’s I Won’t Back Down at an event at Trump’s Westchester golf club. It was not met with favorability from the internet as one person wrote, “Tom Petty must be rolling around in his grave as Lara Trump’s singing is destroying his songs.”
