Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, was seen embracing a more relaxed and casual style during a garden party at the British Ambassador’s residence in Dublin on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. Meghan, who had swapped her sleek side bun for a carefree blowout, wore a black dress by designer Emilia Wickstead, one of her sister-in-law Kate Middleton’s favorite designers. She paired the dress with Aquazzura heels, which she had previously worn at the Queen’s Young Leaders Awards.

Wickstead, who was the subject of media attention after Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry, had faced reports claiming that Meghan’s Givenchy wedding gown resembled one of her own bridal designs. Wickstead publicly responded, expressing disappointment over the comments but also offering her admiration for Meghan’s wedding dress. She clarified, “I do not think that her wedding dress was a copy of any of our designs” and wished the Duke and Duchess of Sussex a happy and love-filled life together.

During the royal couple’s first official international visit to Dublin, Meghan and Harry were warmly received. Meghan has worn Wickstead’s designs on previous occasions, including for the Westminster service on Anzac Day earlier that year.

In his speech at the garden party, Prince Harry shared his joy about the visit, saying, “We’re so pleased to be here, for our first official international visit together as a married couple, and we hope it will be the first of many!” He also spoke about the special place Ireland holds in the hearts of the royal family, expressing gratitude for the warm reception.
