The actor recently shared his thoughts on her latest project in an interview while promoting his own film, London Calling.
Hoffman, 55, fondly recalled their time working together, particularly during holidays spent with the Suits cast in Canada. “Meghan would love to prepare things, cook things. And I would mess them up,” Hoffman admitted, remembering a time when he tried to help carve a turkey and made a mess. “She was like, ‘No!’ I was the messed-up older brother.” Their camaraderie on set and their off-screen friendship are clearly cherished by Hoffman, who described Markle’s cooking skills as a central part of their shared moments during their time on the show.
Markle, 44, debuted her lifestyle series on Netflix, With Love, Meghan, earlier this year, with Season 2 hitting the platform in August. Hoffman plays the crime boss, Benson, in a role that gave him the chance to explore new dimensions of his acting career. “I had talked with [director] Allan [Ungar] about certain subtleties. The fake tan, the Trump tan… those types of things were all exploratory,” Hoffman revealed, emphasizing the creative freedom he enjoyed while filming.
Filming in Cape Town, South Africa, for the first time, Hoffman described the experience as extraordinary. “It was beyond. It was like you were on a different planet,” he said, reflecting on the beauty of the location and the memories of his first girlfriend being from the area. Though filming took place during a particularly busy period, with Duhamel’s wife expecting their first child, Hoffman mentioned that the atmosphere on set was lighthearted and filled with “mature shenanigans,” though not too many, as Duhamel was eager to finish the film and return home to welcome his son, Shepherd.
Hoffman’s current success with London Calling and Markle’s continued presence in the media with her Netflix series demonstrate their divergent but equally impactful paths in the entertainment industry.
