David Muir halted ABC World News Tonight to issue a rather concerning update and it’s been seen as a disastrous blow to President Donald Trump and his administration
Thursday’s episode of ABC World News Tonight was interrupted to deliver the worst blow to President Donald Trump and his administration yet.

On hand to deliver the shocking news was ABC News anchor David Muir, 51, who kicked off the segment saying, “Good evening. We begin tonight with the breaking news the growing chaos facing millions of airline passengers across this country, major airlines, including Delta, United and American already canceling hundreds of flights because of the government shutdown.”
“Now day 37 the FAA is taking extreme measures, ordering flights be cut by up to 10% at 40 major airports across this country, including New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, this government shut down the longest in US history,” he continued.
David went on to tell viewers, “Air traffic controllers now dealing with no pay their second paycheck, with zero. Passengers scrambling to make last minute changes. Of course, concern whether their flight will be canceled, too concerned about being stranded.”

The update didn’t end there, with the host adding, “Also breaking at this hour, a federal judge tonight ordering the Trump administration to fully fund November food benefits SNAP for 42 million Americans by tomorrow.” David then handed over to his ABC colleague Rachel Scott, who was reporting live from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Rachel began her report, saying, “Tonight a mad scramble for passengers at airports across the country, before airlines start canceling 1000s of daily flights, the Trump administration says, to ease the strain on air traffic controllers from the government shutdown.”

She then interviewed some people who were at the airport and they expressed their concerns while remaining hopeful to make their scheduled flights.
“40 airports will be impacted, including the country’s busiest from Atlanta to Los Angeles to Chicago, New York’s JFK, Miami, Detroit and DCA in Washington,” Rachel warned.
“Tonight, Delta Airlines says they’ll cancel 170 flights tomorrow. American Airlines 220 and United Airlines says they’ll slash just under 200 passengers getting notifications like this one,” the correspondent went on as she showed the alert passengers were getting.
Rachel also dished an update on the other issue President Trump is facing, “Judge John McConnell rebuking the Trump administration, accusing the White House of trying to withhold benefits for, quote, ‘political reasons,’ pointing to the President’s own words on social media, saying payments will be given ‘only when Democrats open up government.’
“Tonight, the Trump administration says they plan to appeal that ruling, but it does leave millions of Americans who rely on those SNAP benefits hanging in limbo.”
“Meanwhile, at airports across the country, including right here at DCA, officials are bracing for even more cancellations tomorrow. So far, at least 700 flights have been canceled, but that number only expected to grow,” Rachel said, concluding her report.
A segment of the news story was shared on Instagram, where viewers made their feelings very clear about the situation. One user penned, “Meanwhile, the rest of the world is shaking their heads and laughing at us.”
As another declared, “We’re really experiencing the worst president of all time,” prompting someone else to say, “These are our own citizens, the basic human right to have food, water and shelter. Do not use us as your political tools.”
“Don’t you think it was so ironic that Trump ended the law that airlines have to pay passengers fees for canceled or delayed airlines? And now we’re here,” a fourth viewer pointed out.
While a fifth admitted, “I cannot wait until I can watch the news and not have every headline be a new way that Donald Trump is f—— up our country.”
