Prince Harry has expressed a desire to spend more time with his father, King Charles, in the near future following their recent reunion during his visit to the U.K. The Duke of Sussex, 41, who has since returned to California, reflected on the visit, which included a private tea with King Charles at Clarence House on September 10, 2025. This marked the first time Harry had seen his father in person since February 2024, shortly after the King revealed he was being treated for an undisclosed cancer.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Harry mentioned that he hopes their recent meeting is not a one-off, saying, “the focus really has to be on my dad” in the coming year. He also expressed his intention to spend more time in the U.K. and even bring his children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, there one day. “This week has definitely brought that closer,” Harry shared, signaling that his trip to England had rekindled his desire to reconnect with his family.
During the interview, Harry briefly spoke about his wife, Meghan Markle, 44, and the advice she gave him, which he now “always falls back on.” Meghan reportedly told him, “Just stick to the truth,” adding that it is “the most efficient way to live.” Harry emphasized that living with truth is not only simpler but avoids the time and effort that comes with lying.
The conversation then shifted to Harry’s memoir Spare, where he explained that his decision to speak out was necessary to “correct the stories already out there.” He acknowledged that the book may have upset some people but insisted that his conscience is clear. He explained that writing the memoir wasn’t about airing dirty laundry or seeking revenge, but about accountability and ensuring the truth was told. “You cannot have reconciliation before you have truth,” Harry stated, reinforcing his belief that the path to healing begins with honesty.
Harry’s trip to the U.K. also marked a turning point in his relationship with his family, particularly with King Charles. Close sources have revealed that the King had previously been unresponsive to Harry’s calls and messages. However, lines of communication seemed to open when Harry’s aides met with members of the King’s staff in July 2025, a meeting some insiders saw as a positive step toward reconciliation.
A spokesperson for Harry confirmed that he “loved being back in the U.K.,” and appreciated the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and colleagues while supporting the causes that mean so much to him. His recent visit to the U.K., alongside his reflections on the importance of family and truth, suggests that while the journey to reconciliation with his family may take time, Harry is hopeful about the future and eager to spend more time in his home country with his children.
