Prince Harry recently shared the five words of advice from Meghan Markle that he “always falls back on.” In an interview with The Guardian reflecting on his recent trip to the U.K. and reunion with his father, King Charles, Harry revealed that Meghan’s advice to him was simple but profound: “Just stick to the truth.” He explained that these words guide his life, saying, “It is the thing I always fall back on. Always.” Meghan’s reasoning, he continued, was that truth is “the most efficient way to live” and that lying is “too much time and effort.”
Harry’s return to the U.K. marked the first time he had seen King Charles since February 2024. The visit seemed to signal a potential shift in Harry’s relationship with his family, particularly after years of tension following his move to California and his step back from royal life. He also touched on the ongoing health struggles of his father, who revealed earlier this year that he was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed cancer, indicating that Harry’s focus in the coming months would be on his father’s well-being.
Harry also spoke more optimistically about the possibility of bringing his wife, Meghan, and their children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, back to the U.K. Despite previously expressing concerns about security and family conflicts, Harry acknowledged that this latest visit has made him more open to sharing his home country with his kids. “Yes, I would. This week has definitely brought that closer,” he shared, adding that he continues to love the U.K. and that reconnecting with causes he’s passionate about and people he’s known for years has been fulfilling.
Regarding the reaction to his memoir, Spare, Harry remained steadfast in his decision to speak out, saying his “conscience is clear.” He rejected the idea that he aired his “dirty laundry,” explaining that the book was about correcting the public narrative. “One point of view had been put out, and it needed to be corrected,” he said.
Reflecting on his strained relationships with his father and brother, Prince William, Harry expressed hope for the future but emphasized that reconciliation can only come after truth is addressed. “It is not about revenge, it is about accountability,” he said, reiterating that he is happy with his life and the choices he has made. Despite media speculation about his happiness, Harry confirmed that he feels at peace with his journey and the life he now leads.
