Prince William and Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan at RAF Benson in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, U.K. on Oct. 15, 2025.
Prince William and Crown Prince Hussein, both trained helicopter pilots, took a special interest in the operations at the airbase, which is known for supporting U.K. military operations globally. The pair toured RAF Benson, where William served as a search and rescue pilot with No. 22 Squadron during his time at RAF Valley in Anglesey. This squadron, which William once served with, has since moved to RAF Benson. The two princes met with trainee aircrew and staff from both No. 22 Squadron and No. 28 (AC) Squadron, speaking with RAF personnel about their roles and experiences in deployment.
The visit highlighted both their personal connection and professional interests, with Hussein also visiting No. 28 Squadron’s hangar to meet helicopter technicians and view the aircraft. RAF Benson, located around 50 miles west of London, houses several important squadrons, including No. 22 Squadron, which conducts operational testing and training, and No. 28 Squadron, which trains Chinook aircrews before they head to the front lines.

Prince William, whose background in the air force includes not only his time with the search and rescue squadron but also as an air ambulance pilot, and Crown Prince Hussein, who completed his pilot training with the Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) in 2019, shared a professional connection on this visit.

The royal visit also underscores the ongoing relationship between the two families. In 2023, William and his wife, Kate Middleton, attended the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa. The princes also shared a memorable moment during a 2018 trip to Amman, where they watched a soccer game together.
While Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa are currently visiting the U.K., Princess Rajwa spent some time with Princess Eugenie, William’s cousin, learning about a charity that supports mental health initiatives through art in healthcare settings.

The visit to RAF Benson on October 15 not only showcased the royal bond between Britain and Jordan but also highlighted the shared interests and deep respect between the two royal heirs, both dedicated to serving in their respective air forces and committed to fostering their countries’ international alliances.
