Hélie’s birth coincides with a significant shift in the Luxembourg royal family. Just two weeks prior, on October 3, 2025, Alexandra’s father, Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, made the momentous decision to abdicate the throne in favor of his eldest son, Grand Duke Guillaume. Princess Alexandra and Nicolas were present at the abdication ceremony in Luxembourg City, standing alongside other members of the royal family on the balcony of the Grand Ducal Palace, witnessing this historic moment.

As the fourth child and only daughter of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, Princess Alexandra’s position in the line of succession has now shifted with her father’s abdication. She now holds the seventh position, immediately followed by her daughter, Victoire. With Hélie’s birth, he becomes the ninth in line to the throne. This change in the line of succession follows a significant constitutional reform in 2011, when Grand Duke Henri implemented absolute primogeniture, allowing females to be included in the order of succession.
