Princess Anne and her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, are set to embark on an important tour of Australia and Singapore from November 8 to 13, as announced by Buckingham Palace. The four-day tour will celebrate the centenary of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals, an organization of which the Princess Royal is Colonel-in-Chief. The tour will take place over Remembrance Day, adding a poignant significance to her military engagements across Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

Princess Anne, who is known for her tireless dedication to her royal duties, will participate in several military-related events during her visit, including laying a wreath at the Anzac Memorial in Sydney, in her capacity as President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. These engagements highlight the Princess’s longstanding commitment to honoring the service and sacrifice of military personnel, and her role in maintaining ties with the Commonwealth.
Following her engagements in Australia, Princess Anne and Sir Timothy will travel to Singapore for the final two days of their trip, at the request of the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office. During their time in Singapore, the couple will meet with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, reinforcing the strong diplomatic relations between the UK and Singapore. The visit will also mark 60 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations. The couple is expected to visit the Kranji War Memorial, as well as key business and training hubs, including the Airbus Asia Training Centre and Rolls-Royce’s Seletar campus.

At 75, Princess Anne is widely regarded as one of the hardest-working members of the royal family. Over the years, she has made numerous visits to both Australia and Singapore, underscoring her enduring connection to these countries. Her previous visits to Australia have been frequent, with her most recent trip to Sydney in 2022. Similarly, she has traveled to Singapore several times, including most recently in 2016.
This tour comes shortly after Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s private audience with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Balmoral Castle, during which the evolving relationship between the monarchy and Australia was discussed. Following the visit, Albanese extended a warm invitation to the royal family, declaring that they are always welcome in Australia. He expressed hope that the Prince and Princess of Wales would visit in the near future, though Buckingham Palace has yet to announce any plans for such a trip.

Princess Anne’s upcoming tour, alongside Sir Timothy, promises to be another significant chapter in her long history of royal service. Her dedication to representing the Crown and fostering international relations through her engagements is a testament to her commitment to duty, and her visit will undoubtedly strengthen ties between the UK, Australia, and Singapore.
