Queen Camilla is reportedly staying completely neutral amid the long-standing feud between King Charles III and his son, Prince Harry, despite being repeatedly mentioned in Harry’s memoir Spare. A People source revealed that the Queen consort “stays out of” the drama, even though Harry referred to her in the book, labeling her as “dangerous.” Camilla has not spent time with Harry in years, and insiders say she prefers to maintain distance from the ongoing tensions.

In 2023, Harry spoke candidly about his stepmother during an appearance on Good Morning America. “We haven’t spoken for a long time. I love every member of my family, despite the differences,” he said. “So when I see her, we’re perfectly pleasant with each other. She’s my stepmother. I don’t look at her as an evil stepmother. I see someone who married into this institution, and done everything she can to improve her own reputation and her own image, for her own sake.” His remarks suggest that while Harry acknowledges Camilla’s presence in the family, there is little ongoing interaction between them.

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton has reportedly adopted a similar approach, distancing herself from the family drama. Royal expert and broadcaster Helena Chard told Fox News that the Princess of Wales is in “protection mode” regarding her children, intentionally avoiding involvement in the negative public narrative surrounding her extended family. Chard also noted that Kate is concerned about the potential impact of Harry’s actions on Prince William’s future reign, viewing any interference as a possible complication for the monarchy.

Hilary Fordwich, another royal analyst, added that the rift between Kate and Harry reflects “a huge sense of betrayal and broader frustration, as well as a massive cultural clash” between the former friends. Fordwich explained that Kate has “thrown her hands up in disgust, stepping back from any role of attempting to mediate a reconciliation since the rift between the brothers kept widening.”

With both Queen Camilla and Kate deliberately maintaining distance, the royal family’s fissures appear to be widening rather than healing, leaving the public and royal watchers to speculate how—or if—any reconciliation might occur.
