MS NOW host Rachel Maddow says President Donald Trump will not remain in office once his current term is up, despite what he has openly suggested, and is urging those who have supported or surrendered to Trump to “salvage” their reputations while they can.

Maddow discussed as much on Monday’s episode of “The Best People with Nicolle Wallace” and said CBS “needs to unfire” Stephen Colbert from his “Late Show” job, while universities that have cowed to Trump should reverse course — because he won’t be here forever.

“It’s not too late,” she said. “Trump is not going to end up being the dictator of this country.”
Maddow continued, “And when he’s trying, he’s running through all of these institutions and all of these people in our country who made a stupid decision to try to be on his side as he takes over.”
Trump’s pressure campaign has included seizing editorial power over museum exhibits, taking control of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and withholding federal funding to bully private universities.
He also publicly celebrated the cancellation of “The Late Show,” which came after Colbert mocked CBS parent company Paramount Global on the air for settling a $16 million lawsuit with Trump.

“He’s not going to win,” said Maddow of Trump.
The MS NOW host added that there’s still time “to actually undo your bad decision” of voting for Trump and supporting his administration.
“And maybe you can salvage your reputation, and your descendants won’t spend the next several generations denying that you were one of them,” she said.

Maddow went on to torch Trump’s racist rhetoric and his administration’s ongoing military strikes against what it claims are drug boats in the Pacific and Caribbean. She added that the tide of public opinion is already turning — as a recent Gallup poll showed only 36% of respondents approve of the way the president is doing his job.

“That’s what’s happened, CBS,” said Maddow. “That’s what’s happened, Paramount, since you decided that you would please Donald Trump by taking Stephen Colbert off the air. Maybe don’t do that. Maybe you can now see where in history you’re going to end up.”
