On October 15, 2025, Amazon MGM Studios announced the title for the much-anticipated sequel to Red, White & Royal Blue: Red, White & Royal Wedding. The movie will reunite Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez, who captured hearts with their portrayal of Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz in the first film. The sequel is expected to continue the love story of the British royal, Prince Henry, and the son of the U.S. president, Alex Claremont-Diaz, whose initially contentious relationship blossoms into a secret romance in the first film.

Based on Casey McQuiston’s bestselling 2019 novel, Red, White & Royal Blue premiered in August 2023 to much fanfare. The sequel will be directed by Jamie Babbit, known for her work on But I’m a Cheerleader and numerous TV shows including Gilmore Girls, Russian Doll, and Only Murders in the Building. Babbit brings her sharp comedic sensibility and heartfelt storytelling to Red, White & Royal Wedding, making her a perfect choice to helm the film. The script for the sequel is co-written by McQuiston, along with Gemma Burgess and Matthew López, who directed the first film.
Julie Rapaport, Amazon MGM Studios’ Head of Film, Production and Development, shared her excitement about the new chapter in the couple’s story: “We couldn’t be more excited to continue that journey with Jamie Babbit at the helm…Together with Jamie, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Matthew, Casey, Jennifer Salke, Gemma Burgess, and of course Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez, we can’t wait to bring fans an unforgettable new chapter in their love story.”

While specific plot details for Red, White & Royal Wedding remain under wraps, it’s likely that the film will pick up where the first left off, following the evolution of Alex and Henry’s relationship. In the first movie, the two navigate their rocky romance in the public eye, ultimately embracing their love as they visit Alex’s childhood home, with the closing scene showing them triumphantly saying, “We won,” symbolizing both their personal victory and Alex’s mom’s re-election as president.
The cast will feature Galitzine and Perez reprising their roles as Prince Henry and Alex, respectively. Although additional casting details are yet to be confirmed, fans are hopeful that other familiar faces, including Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, and Uma Thurman, will return. Thurman, who portrayed President Ellen Claremont, has expressed interest in reprising her role when the time is right.
