The holiday season is fast approaching, and tensions within the royal family are heating up once again. King Charles III is reportedly planning to exclude his younger brother, Prince Andrew, and his ex-wife, Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson, from the royal family’s annual Christmas celebration at Sandringham this year.

According to a recent report by The Times of London, Charles, now 76, is growing increasingly frustrated with the scandals surrounding Andrew, particularly his past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Sources close to the king revealed that Charles feels it would be inappropriate to invite Andrew and Ferguson, given the controversies that have plagued them for years.

As one source put it, “You can’t sack someone from being your brother, but this year, if the duke and duchess were both to be as honorable as last year, it would be very much for the best, and the family would not be disappointed, not least to avoid the king having to make any more difficult decisions.”
The king is said to prefer that Andrew and Sarah remain more “invisible” at royal events, choosing to keep a low profile rather than drawing attention with their presence. While the royal family has long been known for its unity and tradition, these recent developments indicate that Charles may be making a firm stand on who he feels should be part of the royal fold during significant occasions.
Sarah Ferguson, 65, who has faced her own fair share of controversies over the years, is reportedly devastated by the ongoing fallout. Friends of Fergie shared that she is “devastated for any embarrassment” that has occurred recently and hopes to “explain herself to the wider royal family in due course.” Ferguson’s past ties to Epstein and the ongoing scrutiny of her ex-husband’s scandals have added further complications to her relationship with the royal family.

Last year, Andrew and Ferguson opted to spend Christmas privately at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, alongside their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, choosing to avoid the royal holiday celebrations at Sandringham. With the current tensions, it seems that this year may follow a similar path, with Andrew and Ferguson again potentially keeping to themselves instead of joining the royal festivities.
As the royal family navigates this latest chapter, King Charles’s decisions regarding who will be included in the Christmas celebrations reflect the growing divisions within the family. While it remains unclear whether the Duke and Duchess of York will be able to reconcile their differences with the royal family in the future, it is evident that their presence at major events remains a contentious issue.
