Meghan Markle is facing fierce criticism after sharing a “thoughtless” and “bewilderingly tasteless” clip on social media. The Duchess of Sussex posted a video showing her feet up inside a limousine as it drove near the Paris tunnel where Princess Diana tragically died in a car crash in 1997. The video, shared with her 4.2 million Instagram followers, was taken as Meghan made her way back from a surprise appearance at Paris Fashion Week, marking her first visit to Europe in two years.

The footage quickly sparked outrage, with many accusing Meghan of being “insensitive” for casually rolling down the window as the car passed iconic bridges like the Pont Alexandre III and the Pont des Invalides, leading up to the Pont d’Alma where Princess Diana lost her life. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams slammed the post as “utterly bewildering” and “beyond stupid,” adding that Prince Harry would likely be displeased. He commented, “I don’t understand what on earth she was thinking—well, she can’t have been thinking.”

Social media users also voiced their anger, with one writing: “What a vile video of her casually stretching out in her car as she drives over the death scene.” Another said, “She knows exactly what she’s doing, and I just can’t comprehend why she’d do it. It’s plain cruel.”

This incident adds to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding Meghan and Prince Harry, as they continue to face public backlash for various actions and statements. Meghan’s latest misstep is yet another example of the tensions that persist between the Sussexes and the royal family, as both continue to navigate their public and private lives under intense media scrutiny.
