Princess Beatrice recently made headlines when a photo surfaced of her at the Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on October 28, 2025. While attending the event, she wore a name tag displaying her royal title, but a subtle mistake caught the attention of eagle-eyed observers. The name tag identified her as “H.R.H. Princess Beatrice of York,” but this title was outdated.

Before her 2020 marriage to property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Beatrice was known as Princess Beatrice of York, reflecting her father Prince Andrew’s title as Duke of York. However, following her marriage, Beatrice adopted the name “Princess Beatrice, Mrs. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi” in line with royal traditions, which is also the form under which she appears on the British royal family’s official line of succession. Similarly, her sister, Princess Eugenie, is listed as “Princess Eugenie, Mrs. Jack Brooksbank.”

The mistake on the name tag surfaced just days after Prince Andrew’s announcement that he would relinquish his royal titles and honors. The decision came amid renewed scrutiny over his connections to the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, including allegations from Virginia Giuffre, who claimed that Epstein trafficked her to Prince Andrew. Despite the loss of his Duke of York title, the status of his daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, remains unchanged. Their royal titles and positions are unaffected by their father’s decision, and they will continue to attend royal events without any impact on their status.

In addition to Andrew’s title changes, his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, has also dropped the use of her “Duchess of York” title amid the ongoing scandal. King Charles is reportedly moving to evict the former couple from their long-time home, the Royal Lodge, marking another chapter in the royal family’s ongoing adjustments in the wake of these controversies.
