Julianne Hough can’t wait to be a mom.
The professional dancer, 37, appeared on the Jennifer Hudson Show on Wednesday, Nov. 19, and was asked about her brother Derek Hough, who is currently expecting his first baby with wife Hayley Erbert. Julianne said that while she’s so excited for her brother, she’s also been thinking ahead to her own future.
“Okay, so I became an aunt at 11 years old because I have three older sisters and they have, you know, been having kids for a long time. But this is the first time, you know, my ovaries are screaming,” admitted Julianne.
“I’m ready to be a mom. So to be at this stage of my life while he’s having a baby, I’m just seeing it through different eyes,” she continued.

“You know, Derek and I have been so close our whole life, growing up and parallel career pathways, etc. And I’ve known Hayley since she was 19. So I’ve watched them grow as this most beautiful couple. They are such a yin and yang. They balance each other so well. This little kid is going to be the most creative, talented genius on the planet and Aunt Juju is going to be there just supporting it.”
Hudson chimed in and said she’d love to see Julianne become “Mama Juju” in the near future.
“You got to find a love first,” Julianne replied.
Back in July, Julianne shared her congratulations to her brother Derek and sister-in-law Hayley via her Instagram Stories after the happy couple announced they are expecting their first baby. Julianne reshared the couple’s announcement video, adding a sweet message in text over it.
“Baby Hough is so wise to choose you two as parents 💕,” she wrote. “Love Aunt JuJu.”
The Dancing with the Stars alum, 38, and his wife, 30, who tied the knot in August 2023 in Monterey County, California, announced their baby news with a sweet video on Instagram on July 22.
In the heartwarming video, Derek walked over to his wife and the two embraced while overlooking a scenic view. As the two hugged, Erbert flashed a strip of sonogram photos at the camera as the couple smiled and swayed in the sunlight.
“We can’t believe the biggest thing to happen to us could be so small ♥️,” the couple captioned their joint video post.
The couple’s announcement came after Derek opened up to E! News in September 2024 about how he and his wife were looking forward to expanding their family dance crew with a few little ones.
“We definitely want to have a family eventually,” he told the outlet. “We’ll see what’s in the cards, what’s on the horizon. Little dancing children running around.”
