Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are once again facing a significant staffing change, as their director of communications, Emily Robinson, has departed after only four months in the role, PEOPLE confirms. Robinson, who joined the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s team in late May 2025, previously worked at Netflix as a Senior Director of Publicity.

departure, reported by the Daily Mail on October 24, is the latest in a series of communications staff changes since the couple relocated to California in 2020. Sources confirm that Robinson left voluntarily, with a spokesperson for Meghan and Harry stating that she “oversaw project-based work” for the couple’s brand, particularly supporting the production company and the successful launch of their podcast series, With Love, Meghan.
Despite her contributions, Robinson has yet to update her LinkedIn profile to reflect her brief time with the Sussexes. While the spokesperson praised her work, calling it “excellent,” this departure adds to the pattern of staffing changes that the couple has faced in recent years. In June 2025, deputy press secretary Kyle Boulia and UK press officer Charlie Gipson both left after serving less than a year. Additionally, last year, their global press secretary and head of communications, Ashley Hansen, left to launch her own communications firm.

Among the remaining team members, Liam Maguire, the director of communications in Europe, and Meredith Maines, the couple’s chief communications officer, are still in their roles. Former publicists James Holt and Miranda Bardot, who previously worked as PR staff, have now taken on non-PR positions.
Robinson’s departure follows a turbulent period for the Sussexes, which included criticism of Meghan during Paris Fashion Week. A video of her riding through the city was deemed insensitive by some, as it was believed to be filmed near the Pont de l’Alma tunnel, the site where Princess Diana tragically died in 1997. Harry, deeply affected by the backlash, expressed how hurt he was by the media’s negative response, especially as the video was not filmed near the tunnel. “Diana’s death was used as a stick to beat his wife with,” a source close to the couple shared, revealing Harry’s deep emotional reaction.

Despite these challenges, Meghan rejoined Instagram at the beginning of 2025, focusing on sharing moments from her family life with Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, and promoting her lifestyle brand, As Ever. As the couple navigates their personal and professional life in the spotlight, their communications team continues to evolve, with Robinson’s exit marking the latest chapter in their ongoing journey.
