Detroit Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson had a resurgent 2025 season, but his best play may have come after the season ended.

Torkelson and his new wife, Makenna, got married last weekend, with the Tigers sharing the news over their social media pages on Tuesday, Nov. 11. The most-shared photo was of a tuxedoed Torkelson holding the couple’s French bulldog Coco, who appeared to wear white like Makenna.SKUBAL DIVING: Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal explains ALDS Game 5 exit: ‘Hindsight is 20/20, right?’
After finishing a disappointing 2024 season without a clear path to a starting role, Torkelson tore it up in spring training, with injuries giving him another opportunity to start at first base. The 2020 No. 1 overall pick didn’t waste his opportunity, either, slashing .240/.333/.456 over 649 plate appearances with 31 home runs and 78 RBIs in 2025.
He is expected to be the team’s starting first baseman in 2026, his fifth season with the team – and now he will do so as a married man.
