The Statement That Started It All
When asked about the league’s handling of recent on-court incidents involving physical play and player discipline, White didn’t hold back.
“Let’s be honest,” she said. “There are players in this league that no one wants to hold accountable. And Brittney and A’ja — as talented and iconic as they are — fall into that category. It’s like everyone’s afraid to call them out, and that’s a problem.”
Star Power vs. League Balance
A Call for Accountability![]()
Stephanie White made it clear that her remarks weren’t a personal attack on either player.
“I respect the hell out of both of them,” she emphasized. “This isn’t about discrediting their achievements. It’s about making sure the league doesn’t become a place where star power overshadows integrity.”
The Response So Far
Neither Brittney Griner nor A’ja Wilson have publicly responded to White’s comments — at least not directly. However, a cryptic tweet from Wilson hours later caught attention:
“When you shine too bright, it makes some people uncomfortable. That’s not my problem.”
