The Toronto Blue Jays had an incredible 2025 season, falling just short of their ultimate goal of winning the World Series.
The Blue Jays pushed the reigning champion Los Angeles Dodgers to the brink, forcing a seven-game series that needed 11 innings in Game 7 to decide the winner.
In the end, though, the Blue Jays fell just short, losing 5-4 to the Dodgers, who became baseball’s first back-to-back champion in 25 years.
After the game, a Blue Jays front office member, Gosuke Katoh, sent a message to the Blue Jays and Dodgers organizations on social media.

“The 2025 season has ended,” the statement began in Japanese and translated to English from X. “I sincerely thank the players and coaches who believed in my opinions during my first year in the role. It was an irreplaceable season spent with the greatest teammates.
“I would be delighted if it became an unforgettable World Series for everyone who supported us from Japan as well.
“Congratulations, Dodgers!”
Katoh, 31, is a former major league infielder who spent time with the Blue Jays, among four other MLB organizations. His only experience at the big league level came with Toronto, where he went 1-for-7 across 11 plate appearances in eight games.
After the 2022 season, he played in Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan. Katoh announced his retirement from professional baseball in November 2024.
Shortly after announcing his retirement, he announced that he had accepted a role with the Blue Jays front office. In his first season with the team in a front office role, the Blue Jays went to the World Series.
Despite the loss, the Blue Jays had a season to be proud of. Now, they shift their focus to the offseason, where they’ll look to retool and get back to October baseball next season.
