A’ja Wilson is one of the greatest women’s basketball players. In seven years in the WNBA, Wilson has won two WNBA championships and four WNBA MVP awards. The seven-time WNBA All-Star has also won the Defensive Player of the Year thrice. Dawn Staley’s former player made her mark with the Las Vegas Aces pretty early in her WNBA career. She also won the Rookie of the Year award in 2018.
Wilson is not only known for her basketball prowess but also her fun-loving personality. Coaches and players love her, and fans admire her. Her humor has often made people around her, as well as the fans, laugh deliriously. Recently, there was another such instance where A’ja Wilson said something for her teammate, Chelsea Gray, which left everyone in splits.
After Aces’ dominating 90-68 win vs Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever, A’ja Wilson and Las Vegas head coach Becky Hammon attended a press conference. Wilson complimented Chelsea Gray in a way that only she could do. She said:
“She is someone that I believe could be on the all-defensive team because she is doing a lot that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet, like you said. The way she can just get her hands on the balls…” A’ja burst up in laughter, trying to complete her sentence, “that’s a woman with a wife.”
A’ja absolutely lost it, as the room erupted in laughter. Hammon also laughed as she said, “We love Chelsea.” It would surely be fun to watch Chelsea’s reaction to the hilarious banter by Wilson.
Fans React to A’ja Wilson’s Comment
Just like head coach Becky Hammon and the reporters, fans online were also absolutely delirious after A’ja Wilson’s wild comment.
“I’ve heard this like 25 times and it’s still so damn funny,” one fan commented.
“BFFR A’JA,” another fan exclaimed.
“Seriously I’m devastated she [Chelsea Gray] wasn’t present for that,” another joked.
“That’s gonna go viral! Lol,” one user made the prediction.
“The childish laugh lmao,” another user wrote hysterically.
“My Favorite WNBA MVP4 is hilarious,” one fan said.
Before making everyone laugh, A’ja also became a headache for the Fever and their fans. She scored 25 points and got nine rebounds. It was another dominating display for the MVP and the DPOY. Chelsea Gray got 10 assists and performed her defensive duties. NaLyssa Smith and Jackie Young also chipped in with 18 and 13 points, respectively.
