El Segundo residents this week can get a look at the city’s upcoming projects, hear about the past year and what’s to come in 2026.

Local officials will lay it all out during the El Segundo State of the City address, which will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the California SMASH Pickleball & Social Club, 815 N Nash St.
The annual overview of town happenings, hosted by the El Segundo Chamber of Commerce will cover new businesses and expansions, strategic economic development initiatives, and plans for growth and maintaining city services.
Mayor Chris Pimentel and members of the City Council will discuss recent milestones like economic development in Smoky Hollow, the upcoming $150 million LA Sparks training facility and the recently opened Genesis Design Studio, as well as renovations to the city’s public pool — the Plunge — and how the city plans to thrive in the future.
The city, in fact, has had a lot going on recently.

In September, for example, the Los Angeles Sparks announced plans to build a $150 million, 55,000 square-foot training facility in El Segundo, which is expected to open in time for the 2027 WNBA season. When the facility is built, El Segundo will be the only city in the nation that’s home to five professional sports teams, including football, men’s basketball, rugby and women’s basketball.
Earlier that same month, El Segundo also celebrated the opening of the California Smash Pickleball and Social Club — where the State of the City event will take place. The facility, which was renovated from a former aerospace warehouse, features nine indoor padded courts, sports bars and eateries (opening in the fall), five special event spaces, and other amenities.

And in March, the city launched “El Segundo | Vision 2050,” which is the town’s effort to update the general plan’s land-use element. The updated land-use element will aim to “help shape El Segundo’s look, feel, and function over the next 25 years,” according to the city’s website. That effort, which will include multiple opportunities for the community to provide input, is expected to continue throughout much of 2026.
