A’ja Wilson will play in her seventh consecutive WNBA All-Star Game in just under two weeks, and for the first time she’ll have her own sneaker for the occasion.
The Nike A’One “All-Star” brings a fiery look to Wilson’s debut signature sneaker. Continuing the model’s penchant for gradients, the upper section transitions from yellow to orange and then to red. A pearlized black panel travels over the top of the sneaker to the heel as it forms the eyestay and is complemented by glittering black Swoosh. Gold branding on the tongue and heel is befitting of the WNBA’s most decorated active player and matches the midfoot band sitting within a bright red midsole and black outsole.
Wilson’s long-awaited sneaker launched in May and has been widely hailed. As of July 3, the A’One Indigo Girl was the third-most worn sneaker in the WNBA this season, followed closely by its Pearl colorway, according to Kix Stats.
Full-length Cushlon 3.0 foam delivers a plush feeling directly underfoot and is stabilized by sitting within a firmer injected phylon carrier with a TPU midfoot band, adding further control and arch support. Layers forming the upper offer breathability and flexibility while serving as a natural platform for gradients.
Nike first announced Wilson would become a signature athlete in May 2024, and she told Footwear News in her cover story months later of the process that formally began in 2023: “You work your ass off to get where you are, and yet you are still in a situation like, ‘Am I good enough? Am I enough? What do I need to show to you guys?’ I ran into that with Nike. But on the flip side, Nike was like, ‘No, you are enough. You have to trust the process.’”
Wilson has been named to the All-Star Team in every season of her WNBA career, with the exception of the 2020 season in which the game was not played.
The Nike A’One “All-Star” will release July 18, the day before the WNBA All-Star Game, through Nike’s website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $120.
