On Monday’s episode of The View, the ladies reminded viewers why their show is the number-one stunna in daytime talk shows. The panel tackled network pal Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, being pulled off-air. This was due to FCC chairman Brendan Carr putting pressure on ABC to suspend Kimmel, which the network promptly did, saying his show was off-air “indefinitely.”
Moderator Whoopi Goldberg stated:
Did y’all really think we weren’t going to talk about Jimmy Kimmel? I mean, have you watched the show over the last 29 seasons? No one silences us.
Goldberg went on to reveal the table didn’t speak out about Kimmel’s suspension right after it occurred on Sept. 17 because they wanted to see if he would make a public comment; he hasn’t done that as of the publication date of this story. Goldberg explained:
When the news broke last week about Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension, we took a breath to see if Jimmy was going to say anything about it first. You cannot like a show and it can go off the air. Someone can say something they shouldn’t and get taken off the air. But the government cannot apply pressure to force someone to be silenced.
Co-host Ana Navarro chimed in and remarked:
I don’t understand how in this country, where the First Amendment was made to the Constitution to guarantee freedom of the press and freedom of speech, how the government itself is using its weight and power to bully and scare people into silence.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, who worked in the Trump 1.0 White House, agreed and said:
The First Amendment is the first for a reason, because you need to be able to hold those in power accountable.
