October had already been a memorable month for Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Trey Yesavage before his historic performance in Game 5 of the World Series.
Yesavage, 22, celebrated his two-year anniversary with his girlfriend, Taylor Frick, ahead of his 12-strikeout performance against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, October 29.

“Happy anniversary to the woman that completes me!” the Blue Jays pitcher posted via Instagram on October 9. “You are my best friend. You know how to always put a smile on my face. You fill my life with love and I’m so thankful for you. You do so much behind the scenes for us that goes unnoticed but I see it. I love you more and more with every day that passes ❤️.”
Frick commented, “I love you so much my sweet boy, a million anniversaries to go ❤️.”

Yesavage and Frick began dating in October 2023 after meeting as students at East Carolina University, where Yesavage played baseball and Frick was a cheerleader.
During the Blue Jays’ 6-1 win over the Dodgers in Game 5 on Wednesday, Yesavage set a rookie World Series record by striking out 12 batters.
Frick responded to the accomplishment via her Instagram Story shortly after the game ended, saying that she was “still crying.”
Yesavage has had a meteoric rise through the baseball ranks this year, starting the season with the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays.
The pitcher was promoted to the Major Leagues for the first time on September 15, which Frick celebrated via social media.
“Just an amazing human who happens to be really (like really) good at baseball,” she wrote via Instagram. “Feeling like the proudest girlfriend in the world today, wouldn’t miss it for the world <3.”

Frick has shared sneak peaks into the couple’s life over the years, including an anniversary post of her own in October 2024.
“My little girl self would be smiling ear to ear if she knew she would have a love like this one day,” Frick wrote via Instagram. “If too good to be true was a person, it would be you. 365 days of being the happiest girl in the world <3.”
Yesavage commented, “I love you more than you know ❤️.”
The pitcher has helped propel the Blue Jays to a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven World Series against the Dodgers, one win away from the franchise’s first title since 1993.
Before Game 5, a clip circulated of a stoic Yesavage in the Blue Jays locker room, sitting at his locker with his headphones on.

After the fact, however, Yesavage explained that things were quite so serious.
“I saw something on Instagram that someone took a video of me on my phone saying I was locked in,” Yesavage told ESPN in a story published on Thursday, October 30. “But I was just doomscrolling on TikTok and Instagram reels. I just keep it as chill as possible. I don’t change anything I say to myself, but I’m also just here to go to work. I try not to think about anything.”
Game 6 between the Blue Jays and Dodgers is at Toronto’s Rogers Centre at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 31. A potential Game 7 would be in Toronto on Saturday, November 1.
