WASHINGTON (TNDD) — U.S. Southern Command confirmed over the weekend that the military conducted a strike on a vessel that was carrying alleged narcoterrorists and illicit narcotics.
“On Nov. 15, at the direction of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization,” the U.S. Southern Command wrote on X Sunday.
U.S. Southern Command said that intelligence did confirm that the vessel was involved in illicit narcotics smuggling and carrying narcotics.

“Three male narco-terrorists aboard the vessel were killed,” the post concluded. “The vessel was trafficking narcotics in the Eastern Pacific and was struck in international waters.”
Department of War Secretary Pete Hegseth retweeted the post from U.S. Southern Command.

This news comes as Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the State Department would be designating Cartel de los Soles as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

“Headed by the illegitimate Nicolás Maduro, the group has corrupted the institutions of government in Venezuela and is responsible for terrorist violence conducted by and with other designated FTOs as well as for trafficking drugs into the United States and Europe,” Rubio wrote on X Sunday.
The military has been carrying out strikes in the Caribbean as President Donald Trump has wanted to take out drug smugglers.
It was reported last month that the CIA has been given more authority to conduct lethal operations in Venezuela. The goal is reportedly to get Venezuelan President Maduro out of power.
