BRANSON, Mo–St. Louis Cardinals fans remember Willie McGee’s catch from the 1982 World Series game three.
Willie McGee was in the Ozarks Thursday night.
And the St. Louis Cardinals announced that the major league club will play an exhibition game against Springfield at Hammons Field.
That will be March 23rd after St. Louis breaks spring training camp.
In our Cardinals Nation update, Willie McGee was the guest speaker at the Boys and Girls club of the Ozarks fundraiser.
It’s their 13th annual Thanks4Giving gala.
Willie McGee played 18 years in the bigs, 13 in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
He’s a four time All-Star, a World Champion and the 1985 National League MVP.
McGee is still involved in coaching and was in Springfield this summer.
He says the franchise is in good hands with new president Chaim Bloom.
“I think his track record speaks for itself. I think he’s done a good job in Boston. I think he’s done a good job in Tampa. And he’s proven himself in change. I’m looking forward to it. I already see that Springfield staff that was crazy. I’m sitting down and a left hander is pitching. And I’m saying this kid is good. Then the next day this left hand kid is good. And the next day. I’ve never seen anything like that,” said McGee.
