The cast of the beloved film has stayed in touch over the years, with many hoping for another chance to work together

There’s still so much love between the Sister Act family.
On Sept. 11, Whoopi Goldberg, 69, and Lauryn Hill, 50, reunited at the L’Enchanteur SS26 ‘20,000 Leagues/20,000 Keys’ fashion show in Brooklyn.

The two talented women, who worked together on 1993’s Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit as Hill was getting her start, were all smiles at the event.

Many are hopeful that this time together might lead Hill to reprise her role as Rita Watson in the much-buzzed-about Sister Act 3.
During The View‘s special cast reunion of the 1993 sequel in June 2024, actor David Kater — who played one of the students in the choir featured in the film — revealed that the EGOT winner staged a high school graduation for her castmates who had missed their own ceremony while they were filming in San Francisco.

“We couldn’t go back because production wouldn’t allow it because we were on location,” Kater recalled.
“I was super upset, too, because I had written the song for my graduation — I went to an arts high school, so it was a big graduation thing. And this beautiful lady right here just surprised us with the most amazing gift, which was basically corralling everybody and giving us an on-set graduation.”

In March, Goldberg told PEOPLE that a third installment of the beloved film series, first announced back in late 2020, is “still on the way.”
“It’s percolating,” she explained. “We’re still in the process of writing the script.”
