Zara Tindall is reportedly eager to join her mother, Princess Anne, on a major royal tour to Australia next month, putting pressure on the Princess Royal to let her accompany her.
The 44-year-old royal, who has remained out of the public eye in recent weeks, is said to be desperate to join the official engagement alongside her husband, Mike Tindall. According to an insider, Zara and Mike have been urging Anne to allow them to come along, but the Princess Royal has resisted, insisting that the tour is a serious and official engagement, not an opportunity for a “jolly.”
The source shared with New Idea that while Zara is keen to revisit Australia with her mother, she is upset by the idea of not being able to show Anne some of her favorite spots. The trip, which marks Anne’s first official visit to Australia in 50 years, is a significant moment for the royal family, and Zara is said to be determined to be a part of it. However, Anne seems reluctant to dilute the seriousness of the tour, particularly given her established connections in the country, including her long-standing role as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Australian Corps since 1977.
Zara, who has strong ties to Australia through her regular visits with Mike, is reportedly not giving up on the idea. An insider revealed that even if they are unable to join the tour for the full duration, Zara and Mike are “ready to go” as soon as Anne gives the green light. Anne’s official visit will begin on November 8, 2025, and will cover New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland until November 11, 2025. Despite the tension surrounding Zara’s wishes, it seems the Princess Royal is focused on the seriousness of her engagement in the country, leaving Zara and Mike to wait for any opportunity to join.
Zara and Mike’s connection to Australia remains strong, as they frequently visit the country, with their most recent trip taking place in July 2025. The couple attended the State of Origin series and spent time holidaying on Hamilton Island, reinforcing their deep ties to the region.
