After months of public affection, Super Bowl buzz, and even baby bliss, the Grammy-winning rapper has reportedly stepped back from her relationship with New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs. And according to an insider, it wasn’t a quiet fade-out — it was a deliberate decision.
“Things were getting too heated and complicated,” a source revealed. “Cardi is very no-nonsense. The second she felt that she couldn’t trust him, she pulled back to focus on her kids, her music and tour.”

Rumors of a split began swirling after the Patriots’ 29–13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks at the 2026 Super Bowl on Feb. 8. Fans noticed something subtle but telling: Cardi and Diggs unfollowed each other on social media. In today’s celebrity world, that’s practically a public announcement.
Cardi had been present at the game — even making a splash during Bad Bunny’s halftime show appearance — but she didn’t stick around. Shortly after halftime, she posted a video from her car, singing along to Bad Bunny, suggesting she had already left the stadium.

The day before the big game, when asked by an ESPN reporter if she had a message of encouragement for Diggs, Cardi delivered a short, almost icy, “good luck” before walking away. Fans immediately clocked the tension.
