David Muir returned to host ABC’s World News Tonight on Monday evening, with the journalist sharing an update on Martha Stewart – but viewers were confused by the news
David Muir viewers admitted they were “baffled” as he returned to his ABC show with a strange update on Martha Stewart.

The 52-year-old journalist was back to host World News Tonight on Monday, December 8, after enjoying a short break over the weekend. During the broadcast, Muir shared the news that Stewart doesn’t want to be buried in a coffin when she dies, instead asking that she gets cremated.
Stewart made the announcement as she appeared on the QVC+ and HSN+ podcast 50+ & Unfiltered last week. Addressing his viewers, Muir began his report, “Tonight, Martha Stewart revealing her unconventional final wishes for when she dies. It comes after an ICE agent yelled a chilling three-word order before shooting a woman five times.

“Stewart sharing on a podcast she does not want a coffin. Instead, she wants to be composted, buried on one of her farms. Stewart saying it’s not going to hurt anyone. She added, ‘It’s my property.'”
A clip of the broadcast was shared on Instagram with the caption, “Martha Stewart shared in a podcast that she doesn’t want to be put in a coffin when she dies – instead, she’d like to be composted and buried on one of her farms. @davidmuirabc reports.”
Viewers took to the comments to share their confusion as to why Stewart’s update made the news. “I’m baffled how this made the evening news,” one person admitted.

Another questioned, “This is news?” as someone else echoed, “Why is this making news?” A third fan commented, “And this made tonight’s news because…” as another fumed, “This is not news.”
Other people were more positive about the update and praised Stewart for being open about her wishes. “Good for her she should be able to do what she wants,” one fan shared.
Another agreed with Stewart, “Awesome. I have a Memorial garden of some of my loved ones. With their favorite dressing flowers. Thats my desire as well.”
“GREAT IDEA MARTHA, ME TOO,” someone else echoed as another fan commented, “Same, or buried in a burial forest. Back to the earth.”

Muir’s report comes after Stewart revealed she wants to be “composted” when she dies. Appearing on the 50+ & Unfiltered podcast, the lifestyle guru explained how when one of her horses dies, she puts them in a “really deep” hole in the field outside her home.
Stewart said when her time comes, she wants to be put in the field next to them. “Buried or cremated?” host Shawn Killinger asked. Stewart replied, “I’m going to be composted.”
When asked to explain what that meant, Stewart revealed, “When one of my horses dies, we dig a giant, really deep hole in one of my fields – we have a pet cemetery. The horse is wrapped in a clean white linen sheet and very carefully dropped down into this giant, lovely grave. I want to go there.”

The podcast host asked if Stewart would be allowed to fulfil her dreams. She hit back, “I don’t know, why not? It’s not gonna hurt anybody. It’s my property.”
It comes as David Muir makes an emotional admission as he admits he’s always been different.
